i donno, i was mostly clicking european countries and such...and it's like countryside or really well kept city.

then you click US and it's just...slum...slum...slum...the pictures are even worse quality, and it seems like a smog has settled over the entire US. lol.

First pic of France that came up for me looked like utter crap.

I would like to know why the pics for the USA are so much lower quality in general however. Maybe the USA was done first in streetview, which was a while ago, so the camera tech wasn't as good as it is now?

Correct. In 2007 Google started using open-source-based cameras from this company called Elphel. You can watch a video about it here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3616515426451811910

Took forever to finally pull up somewhere in Colorado.

It was a road in the middle of nowhere, and I recognized it since I've been on it several times. Surprised they had street view on that road.

That's because Scandinavia is all around awesome. Try it on France and report back.

EDIT: Woah, it sent me to Hong Kong and now I can't stop exploring the streets there.

Haha, I was also browsing Hong Kong to see if I could spot landmarks that I knew. Check out Macau too. There's a lot more of the old architecture in Macau in some of the side streets.

EDIT: Yeah, for some reason a lot of the US pictures look grey and dull. I did find a nice one a while back when I was looking through one town.

Of course the shots inside the subdivision were taken at another time of the year and everything is dull and grey again.

OP: Looks like a blown head gasket pouring water out of the tailpipe and he was just standing in an unfortunate place for Google's automatic license plate blur thing.

Tourism Authority of Thailand launches new tourism promotion initiative to feature Google Maps with street view
Today the Tourism Authority of Thailand jointly announced with partner, Google Thailand, the launch of a new tourism promotion initiative featuring Google Maps with Street View and plans to invite Thais to nominate their favourite tourist destinations to be captured in images as Google Maps with Street View cars begin driving across the country.
Looks like we'll be able to play 'spot the ladyboy' soon.
