the guy makes great beats and has decent lyrics. hes also got the balls to try completely different things, his new album has no rap in it whatsoever and it actually doesn't suck.

i laugh at all the people that boycott his albums because of his attitude. is it his whining you hear when his songs play? do you turn off the radio when michael jackson's songs come on because he molests kids? seriously.

Umm yeah I do turn it off actually. I've been reading this forum awhile and most of the time I can laugh at the stupid things people say, but for some reason this post really pissed me off.

Gwen Steffani, Blink182, Tupac, or Brittany Spears, or JT are more representative.

Jesus fucking Christ God no. Oh wait, I'm not part of that generation... and if I am, I'm opting out of it. I like 2Pac OK (not the way his fanatical supporters do though), but the rest of that list is pure unadulterated shit that was fed to a cat, which was eaten by a bear and shat out again on wax. If that's the voice of your generation, I'd hope you spend every day crying in the corner wishing you had been born in the 50s so you had some better idols to look up to.

That's almost identical to a line from 50 Cent. Is there any original hip hop any more?

Anyone care to suggest a voice for their generation?

There isn't one. We'd like to believe every voice is unique and no one speaks for all of us. Kanye can take his statement and stick it up his ass.

LOL
you kids nowadays are funny

Actually just today, I saw a presentation on Generation Y/Millennials...oldest are 26-30 now.

They grew up sheltered by their parents, being taken care of and sheltered.

They demand VIP treatment even above their social status.

They demand perfection in everything and will focus on a minor detail if not quite right to lengths.

They helped bring entitlement to light.

Still they lack breadth of knowledge and are easy to sway if you offer the above.

They are gadget and 'now' crazy. Produce the right widget and you will sell a gazillion overnight.

It talked about with the exit of the baby boomers that are a big cash cow, Gen Y is what businesses need to target as Gen X (my generation) is a hard target as they have been more or less forced to figure out everything (latch-key kids / kids that just came home after school with no day care)...we tend to see through bullshit since payment was coming out of our pocket.

Not sure if this guy is one...but it was interesting.

"50 told me to go n switch the style up, so let the haters hate n watch the money pile up"

QFT...it's doubtful most here ever watched a freestyle.

I like both 50 and Kayne.

I also listen to Zeppelin and Metallica.

And then I also have Yanni and Sarah.

The fact is he is selling a ton of music. Saying he sucks just makes you ignorant. Acknowledging that but saying it's not your thing makes you civil.

I could get obscure, but then people would want me to take pics and shit and prove then it was me and then prove ....

hey now, i didn't say that it was good, I'm just saying that it is the voice of our generation. Certain songs like "Carry Me Home" (Blink 182), "California Dream'in" (Tupac), "Smells like Teen Spirit" (Nirvana) conjur up an entire generation of people who grew up in the 90s.

As I started to read this thread, I was going to make a post, but it turned into a cess pool before my attention span caved.
