He keeps hovering past my office with a folder and an intense look at his face, and I'm sitting here with the receiver to my ear listening to the operator say "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up...." 😀

No way I'm going to take on another project 3 minutes before I leave!
 
Are you doing other work on your computer and just trying to avoid a new project before you leave, or are you mostly kicking back?

I am his boss and he will NOT be up for that promotion next week...as a matter of fact, he's gonna be sweeping the floor by this time tomorrow.
 
I was a salesman at a time.
The company I worked for took appointments over an 800 number and I'd check my appointments for the next day.
I customarily called the 800 number and made my first few appointments for myself, thus allowing me to get drunk longer the night before.

Go cry somewhere else, everybody slacks off. Seriously, he's probably going to get the work tomorrow, but it is reasonable to not want to start something 3 min before you leave.

edit: that being said, nice job. I hate when crap gets piled on me at the last minute.
