LOL- Digit Life Leads the way!

Actually, that is an upgraders dream review to be honest. Nothing like seeing how much money will buy you how much extra speed.

OK, the results may not be anything special, but its always nice to see progress. To see that the best Radeon X800 isn't necessarily even 2x faster than a Geforce 4.

Therefore exposing the suckiness of certain cards at DX8. 😛

Nice to see the old cards still able to sling ... esp. the perennial Ti4200. Even the Radeon 8500 makes a showing! 😀

You know, I thought benching 15 or so cards was a chore. I can't imagine how much of a PITA this review had to have been. Kudos to Digit-Life for doing it, though.

I had long suspected the GeForce FX5700Ultra could beat the X800XT PE and 6800 Ultra at Painkiller, now we have proof!

LOL

Well, according to the chart the X800XT PE and the 6800U are running AA and AF while the lower end cards (including the 5700U) are not.

It does beat the 9800Pro though, so hey, you can go throw a party Rollo 😉 . Just don't play the "spot the 5800U" game; you might have a heart attack.

Not so Jiffy, the 5700 leads the 6800U and X800XT PE with AA/AF off as well. The 5700 owns all, except the 256MB 9800Pro and the X800Pro.

See, that's where I screwed up- if I would have bought three 5700s, not 5800s, people would have called me the prophet of high end gaming. 😉

Look at the chart again Jiffy... The X800 XTPE is listed twice, once with AA+AF and once without. Both score lower than the FX5700. IMO, this chart is representative of a cpu limited benchmark. Notice how the 6800 Ultra has an identical score with AA+AF and without...

Ah, my mistake. Amidst that massive list it all jumbled together in my brain. I saw so many X800 and 6800 listings I think my brain just rebooted.

Kudos to Nvidia for designing such a marvellous chip, the 5700 Ultra!!! I'm assuming that is the flip-chip Rev 2 of the 5700U... Also, did all 5700U's come with DDR3, or was it just a crazy one they made late in it's life and for no apparent reason (except to KICK BUTT IN PAINKILLER!!! YEAH!)

It's nice to see the X800XT and 6800U get basically the same score with AA and AF on. That's what I like to see 🙂 . Why Can't every game be like Quake 3 or Doom 3; faster video card = more FPS. Faster CPU = more fps. Everything else is CPU limited this or GPU bottleneck that. Carmack can sure write those engines!
