LOL...busted big time

There was a candid camera TV show that did this in the UK. They also used to trap car thieves in an unlocked car, then make them answer quiz questions. If they got too many wrong, they filled the car with foam.

The state troopers up here used to park a snow machine on an "abandoned" trailer.

They never had to wait longer than 15 minutes to catch a thief.

Why are all the comments about entrapment? It would only be considered "entrapment" if they had a sign saying "please steal this" on the stuff. Leaving your vehicle unlocked or your stuff unguarded is NOT tantamount to giving consent to having it stolen; it's just a bad idea.

couldn't do the reality show version here in the states. the perp could claim slander as he wasn't actually convicted of a crime. worse, he could probably claim unlawful detention or kidnapping as he was held against his will and moved against his will.

Not quite right. It's from a show called SWAG which was a hidden camera thing, but would take the pïss out of thieves and anti social people. A car would be left with the keys in the door, as people got in and tried to start it, the doors would lock and it would fill with foam. There were no questions.

In the DVD there's a clip where it got really nasty once. The two lads who were caught in the foam-car trick ran off after the doors were unlocked. The producers have to get them to sign a release form, but when they tried to do it, the kids came back with a gang of maybe 15 to 20 little bastards who were well up for starting a fight. One of the crew was stabbed in the leg by one of the kids... really not nice, but that's the way kids are these days.

I'd love to see more of this show, though!!!

All I remembered was confused chavs and lots of foam. They definitely asked them questions via the radio in one episode.

I have the DVD, I'll bosh it on tonight and upload the clip. You're probably right.
