There's no tear in my eye over this decision. Both personally or professionally. Personally, I hope I never get issued a beret. I like not having sun in my eyes and the ease of throwing on my bdu cap. Professionally, I'd rather be delayed wearing a beret made in the U.S.A than from some sweatshop.

Makes me wonder what other uniforms/equipment we contracted were made in China. Are they going to throw that away as well. This is just BS public relations.

BTW, berets suck. They look great in dress uniform, but I hated walking around Fort Bragg with this big red target on my melon that did absolutely nothing to block out the sun. It made no sense...camouflage uniform, stupid red hat with a big @ss shiny unit crest on the front. Granted, you didn't wear it in the field, but still...stupid.

Aceman: heh, same here, 84 Static cord jumps, 40 or so HALO's and more fastroping and fast extractions than I care to remember has left my knees in shambles. Not to mention the 1000's of miles of walking with combat ready gear.

They should just be able to wear thos boonie hats. It's probably the most functional of all the hats. Berets suck. The caps...keep your ears warm, but hinder you sight. Boonies keep the sun off your neck and out of your eyes.
