in a simulation...

https://cosmosmagazine.com/physics/physicists-find-we-re-not-living-in-a-computer-simulation

Are they really so dumb as to think they can prove we are not living in a simulation based on some properties in our simulation?!?! LOL, when did science jump the shark so badly so as to throw 2nd grade logic out the window??? I've already pretty much proven by using plain logic that we are almost CERTAINLY living in a simulation. So I'm not going to go through that again here, the thread is still out there I'm sure if you want to find it. Just wanted to point out how stupid these "scientists" are....

So you say we are?

I'll repeat it again, nice and slowly, for you...

I think it's possible.

I never think scientist are stupid. Maybe arrogant on a few subjects. But I get your drift.

It seems to me that if we live in a simulation, the computer would have something in place to not allow us to discover that we live in such a simulation (which is what the naked frog is saying).

That said, I still have an indefinitely stronger belief that we live in a simulation that I have over a belief that we are a product of 'god'

Maybe this god is sitting at its terminal watching us for its entertainment. We all get bored now and then.

Let's see... SaltyNuts "prooves" we are living in a simulation.
A team of theoretical physicists from Oxford University proves we are not.

In this case, the appellation stupid could be applied to someone. We just might not agree on who that someone is.

We hacked the simulation in Y2K, cause it was about to end. We are now benign malware existing on some Mega-Aliens' version of the Internet.

Were there any of these theories around before the Matrix came out?

And I'm genuinely wondering about it, not trying to be a smart ass.

op calling anyone an idiot is proof that we are not in a simulation. No simulator is stupid enough to produce op.

You should publish your own paper on why we almost certainly are living in a simulation.

I dont think its possible to prove we do not live in a simulation.
A perfect simulation would be able to simulate perfectly.

I don't know if we live in a simulation but I do know that life as we know it isn't real.

Those thoughts that you have are there via social conditioning and neurons. Those thoughts aren't even your thoughts. It's what has been planted in your mind from childbirth. That, plus the neurons firingng off in your head

When you die it won't even matter. No one will give a sh*t. The world will keep spinning, and that's about it.

Philip Glass had a book I think something with the title "gods" in it?

I'd say the study focuses too much on modern computational concepts. What if the universe itself IS the computer, like a virtual computer housed in a blockchain? For instance, it would appear they seem to stick to traditional memory allocation, but when you consider the amount of data you can write directly into DNA, and combine that with distributed and deduped data, I think you have a recipe to store countless data and instructions. You have to start thinking in terms of computation and storage as you might find in biological systems, if you want but a taste of computation that can be done by nature. Think of the kind of data storage you have in your brain, all the visual, emotional, and motor-neural memories. When data exists biologically, it defies the human-contrived information storage. Not every single variable would need stored in its own particle, just like not every single human memory is stored in a single neuron. Bits and pieces represented by other bits and pieces would compound when the structure of your storage is literally the basis for time and space itself. There will be rules of computation and storage that we probably still cannot imagine, so their entire theory was flawed.

Do you think the rules in a perfect simulation can be adjusted without any of us having memory of it? What if Jesus really did ride raptors and the story line was simply changed for all of us alive in modern times? Shit... I hope not.

That got me thinking, do game NPCs believe in the great Administrator? Do they have their own theories as to how the game started and who created it, and if it was intelligently designed? Or do they believe in the Big Install Theory, where it was just installed sporadically? Did version 1.0 really only take 7 days to code?

Semantics, whoever created or controlled the simulation would effectively be that god, unless we want to assume that the computer controlled simulation evolved by random chance, out of material that just "is" because it "is".

Both the simulation and god are far more alike than you accept, both intelligent design. Do we not as humans seek our own intelligent design, ultimately seeking god-like power? If we ever achieve that, are we not by our own definition, god to whatever we create?
