for a while i believed that the blink tag had been outlawed and removed as an actual bit of code.

They should ditch 3.x completely and go back to updating the old 2.9x code.

They're actually going straight to "5.0", which is a merger of 3.x and 2.x, although built on top of the 2.x code base, with the intent of adding 3.x features.

That sounds like a good mix. 2.x is obviously more stable and efficient, etc., but some of the 3 features are useful.
