This happened in the NIT, so most people missed it. After high hopes for the season Indiana hoops cratered and wound up in the NIT as a 3 seed. In the first round the higher seed gets a home game, so #3 Indiana vs #6 Georgia Tech should have been held at Indiana. But Indiana felt they were too far above that, so they declined the home game because of, and I'm not making this up, potentially "devaluing the Assembly Hall experience”. Their almighty gym is too good to host an NIT game, so they elected to go on the road and they got their arrogant asses kicked.

Fun Fact: Indiana's women's team is in the WNIT where they will hold the higher seed in a first round game against Ball State. As such, they get a home game and that game will be held at Indiana's Assembly Hall.

i think it's more about the team than the NIT

they are completely embarrassed by that sorry team and don't want them polluting their arena any more than they have to

Yeah it's funny--I recall they were considered a potential #1 at the beginning of the season. lol.

...but I do have sympathy, as an NCSU guy considering our talent and expected potential going into this season. ....le sigh. :(

Indiana's basketball program has been devalued for a while now anyway... This will only make it worse.

The only thing Crean did at MU was land Wade. He built a career on Wade's back and now is being seen for the shit coach he is.
He's a recruiter -- not a coach.

Thanks to this thread, I feel less bad that NIT #1 seed Cal got blown out by some team I can't even remember.

I'm just hoping it's not going to be Archie Miller.

don't worry--Archie is almost certainly going (back) to NCSU. :\

Honestly, I don't know if I hate that idea, actually. Archie was a pretty solid player and a very good floor coach those years and, obviously, his older bro is completely legit. No way NCSU is going to go after the older Miller again (that rarest of rares: a Herb Sendek "protege" :D)

Ah, I thought you were dissing Archie. :D

Nope, I think he's doing a great job at Dayton, and would be a good fit at OSU.

I'm not sure how Thad Matta still has a job - there are 4 teams from Ohio in the NCAA this year, and the Buckeyes didn't even get an NIT bid. Plus they lost to Rutgers in the B1G tourney - yes, Rutgers.
