logonui.exe is running about 98 percent of my cpu when I open task manager and the computer is barely functional. This is my parents old dell system, and formating isnt really an option, but I need some help on this one. -Windows XP
This probably isnt related, but norton starts disabled on this machine although it works once you enable it, I can't get it to boot properly.
 
Try disabling the Fast User Switching service and see if that helps. That will disable the logon with the icons & usernames and go back to the old fashioned Windows NT style login window.
 
Ding dong the witch is dead! Now to convince my parents that I didn't break their computer by changing the login screen.......and find out why norton starts disabled.
