Ok, i know these speakers can do 5.1. But my question is, how?. I know i have to set it to 6 channel direct. Fine. I'm using the analog cables that came with the speakers. I just dont get any audio coming from my center speaker. If i set it to dolby pro logic though, the audio comes out fine from the center channel fine. So do any other tests. So the speaker works fine.

I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy 1. This card should play the sound fine, should it not?

The speakers come with a decoder, which does the DTS, Dolby Digital etc on there.

So, does the Sound Blaster Audigy 1 not play the audio in movies properly, or is it just my speakers? They appear fine. I'm going to buy an Audigy 2 Platinum eventually, but just checking to see if its the speakers.

Well, if you're connecting your speaker via the analog 1/8" miniplugs, then you'll need to set your speaker output to 5.1 in the Creative Surround Mixer program. I'm not too sure what you need to set your Z-680 decoder to... check your manual. Next, whatever softDVD player you use, you should go ahead and change your speaker output to SPDIF OUT.

You're getting 5.1 sound when you set your decoder to Dolby ProLogicII because ProLogicII inherently upmixes any sound source to 5.1

EDIT: I guess you just set your Z-680 decoder to DD or DTS... but that's kind of weird since there is no digital connection from your sound card to your decoder

Ok, incredibly enough, setting it to SPDIF OUT on WinDVD worked. But i didnt think it would, thats amazing! Thank you so much! I spent 25 minutes on the phone with logitech and they had no clue!

But now my question is, what about games? If the game supports surround sound, how do i tell the game to do the same.

Hi OptimusRhyme,

I have a Audigy Gamer and I get 5.1 just fine... First off, You have to have a DVD or Game that has 5.1 (I think You already know this but just incase)... Re check Your Connections... Then go to Start > Settings > "Control Panel" and check settings in "Sounds and Multimedia" (set to 5.1), then go to "AudioHQ" and check settings in "Creative Surround Mixer" (set to 5.1 and tick AC3 Decode: play around in Creative Surround Mixer alot)... Then go to Start > Programs > Entertainment > "Volume Control" and check settings in there... Also check thing in Device Manager (You might have to reload Your Drivers)... And in the Creative Playcenter there is a setting called "CMSS" that mimmicks 5.1 on anything it plays.

Hope You get it, and Love You!

setting it to SPDIF OUT on WinDVD worked.

OptimusRhyme,

If You have WinDVD software that came with a DVD Player that You bought, chances are the 5.1 setting is disabled (it happened to me)... You'll have to upgrade to get 5.1 (that's the way they make their bucks)... Bummer.:(

I got everything to work, except DTS. I've tried a few DVDs and no luck in making it work. Any possible reasons?
