logitech Z560's vs. Klipsch 4.1's.

I'm shopping for a new set of speakers. I'm looking in the direction of the 4.1's and I thought that Klipsch was a sure buy. Until I stumbled upon the Logitech Z560's! Costing less than $200, they rival the Klipsch 4.1 in so many ways. The Z560's are THX certified, 400 watts and they sound great. I'm still stuck on which one's to purchase though.

Anyone here own the Z560's? Are they just as good as the klipsch 4.1's? Would you purchase the Z560's over the Klipsch 4.1's?

thxs!

I own a set of Z-560's and have heard a few sets of Klipsch 4.1's.

To sum it up

-Satellites on the Z-560's are at least as good as those on the 4.1's. Highs seem brighter on the Z's even though they're a single driver design.

-Bass on the Z-560's are much better than 4.1's. 8" woofer vs. a 6.5". Simple surface area.

-Z-560's have more power all the way around. 25% power is about as high as you'll ever need to go.

-Z-560's are about half the cost, which is the REALLY important thing to consider.

IMO, the Logitech's have slightly better sound AND they cost less. Hard to argue with that.

I sold my 4.1s after buying a set of the z560s because I'd heard how great they are. After trying them out for a few days, I realized that the only shortcoming of the z560s (their looks - no cool "Klipsch" logo) was something that I was willing to live with, as their abundance of bass (something I think the 4.1s lacked) more than made up for it.

I'd say buy the z560s and save the cash.

Schmeckp-

I think the Z560's look really good. So looks aren't the main factor. In fact, I have the Klipsch 2.1's and honestly I'm kinda dissapointed. They look ok. I think the Z560's satellites look much better than the 4.1's. The Klipsch sub does look better than Logitech's, but I can live with that.

Anyway, I sent my speakers to Klipsch to get repaired and it's been allmost a month and I still haven't received my repaired speakers yet. It's ticking me off!!! Luckily, I have a back up pair of speakers. So I can wait a little bit.

The Z560's are looking better every day....

The Z560s! My brother has them, and he can turn it up so high that small objects on his desk start shaking (bass at max) but there's no distortion...

P.S. He didn't turn them up all the way (I told him to stop because my ears were hurting)

I've had Logitech Z-560 for a few weeks now. I had to exchanged it once from dell cuz of some problem with the sub. But it's working great now, and I sure love it.

My friend had Klipsch 4.1 and he sold his and bought the Altec Lansing ADA890. One day he came to my house and tested the Logitech Z-560. He said it was the best speaker of all three.

why the 560's aren't 400 watts😛

anyone that would trade klipsch for altecs are deaf😛 the 560's are good for the money but sound slightly less natural then the klipsch. good for games, less so for music.

I have the Z-560's and they totally rock.

I got them for $110 shipped...

Awesome price for the performace that you get.

I would suggest them over the Klipsch.

I have never heard the Klipsch, but I am totally satisfied with my 560's. I am no expert, thats for sure, but I listen to a lot of music and these speakers can pump.

I've heard them both, as well as the Klipsh 2.1's. It's a personal preference, all three are quality. I prefer the Klipsh and use the 2.1's (I don't like multi-channel for stereo).

Nice prices on the Logi's though.

I just got back from visiting my local CompUSA where they had the Klipsch 4.1s and LogiTech Z560s on display. Both sets of speakers were hooked up to an amp, and I tested them for about 20 minutes with different radio stations, from classical to rock to rap. The clear winner: LogiTech Z560s. While the 560s didn't have quite the high-end clarity, it certainly was not disappointing. The Z560s have much better mid-range it's not even funny! To test this, turn the sub volume off on the speakers and hear what's left. The 560s were still able to produce good sound, but the Klipsch 4.1s were left running home to mama. They sounded raspy and shrill. The Z560s have an all-around solid sound, and for $200, they are a much better value than the 4.1s, especially with its 3D stereo effect.

The LogiTech Z560 vs. Klipsch 4.1 decision should be a no-brainer for everyone! If my BA4800s needed replacing, I know what I would buy.

This always start a bit of a "flame war." People who like Klipsch versus people who don't.

First of all, I'll let you know that I have owned the ProMedia v.2-400s and currently own the 4.1 and 5.1 speaker systems. I'll also let you know that I've listened to the Logitech Z560s very carefully and helped my friend set them up...Monster XP 16 gauge wire (got it for 60% off) and placed them(EDIT: them --> the speakers) at the optimal positions in relation to the primary listening area.

Having said all that, I firmly believe that the Z560s are excellent speakers. I believe the 560 has a more apparent sub--the sub is just plain louder than the 4.1 sub. I believe that the highs are better on the 4.1s but the 560s are by no means bad. Overall volume--they're both DAMN loud so that really doesn't matter. The midrange, seems to be more smooth from the 560s, but more versitle on the 4.1s.

Basically, you really aren't sacrificing anything buying the Logitech Z560s...in fact, they beat the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1s in some aspects.

I"ve said this time and time again. You CANNOT base any decisions on what you hear at a store!! Period.

The Logitech's M3D decoding is only useful if you're connecting your speakers to a 2 channel sound card (which you shouldn't be doing in the first place). If you have a 4 channel or better sound card, you'll find that you'll never use the M3D fucntionality...M3D is similar to Dolby ProLogic. M3D can force quadraphonic sound from mono sound sources, but SO CAN 4 CHANNEL SOUND CARDS!! So, with a decent sound card, you enable the M3D feature and you'll be thinking, "What the hell is this?"

So one more time, unless you're using the most sh*ttiest of all soundcards, M3D stays off. (And besides, the orange light that comes on as a result of enabling the M3D decoding makes the control pod not look as cool. That neon blue does wonders though.) 😉

I absolutley LOVE my Z560's....I just couldn't justify the extra price for the kip's. I mean 300-110 = 190. With $190, you could get a LOT of nice extra stuff for your computer, and the Z560's may even be better then the kip's anyways.
Just my .02

heh, well the z560's are ok for 110 bux, its hard to justify the klipsch for 200 more, they aren't 200 dollars better. but if you had to shell 200 dollars for the z560s then the decision would be harder. i'd go for the klipsch because of the slightly better quality at that price. if you can afford it i would go klipsch, if you care about music the z560's problems will get on your nerves eventually.

actually wrong, klipsch have 2 6.4 inch woofers.

wrong and a misconception, logitechs marketing team is full of sh*t, the system is NOT 400watts.

more like 160watts😛 efficient yes, bs marketing.. gr

<< the 4.1's absolutely... >>

dont just assume they are better 🙂 The z560 has owned them in every review i've seen.

Actually, they're 2 x 6.5"

yup 🙂 was gonna edit it but anandtech hung for a minute so i said %#@ it🙂

as for reviews, they don't say the 560's sound better, but for the money...

<< The Logitechs are quite awful for music. >>

How can you say that? There's usually a direct relationship between the strength of the mid-range and how well a system sounds musically. I listened to every variety of music, the Z560s sounded best.

Edit: I wasn't there to purchase anything, so I was being as objective as possible.
