I got these from Dell.. They're awesome, but when I watch mpeg movies, or VCDs, I never hear anything from the rear speakers. I did a search and the last guy who had problems forgot to turn his fade dial, so I checked that and that's AOK.

My MP3s work fine, sound comes thruogh the rear perfectly. I have the Aureal Vortex 2 8830s and I got the new drivers for Win2k from Vortex of Sound and followed all the directions. I have M3D turned off, and sound still doesn't come from the rear unless it's an MP3. Is this a decoder problem? Do I need a different soud card? Are my movies just not A3D compatible? What do I need to do? It seems like a waste to have THX Certified speakers and not be able to watch movies.

Well mpeg and VCD files wont use the rear speakers like a DVD played through a decoder program would. They just have stereo sound so your not going to get 4 channels. Your soundcard should have an option to extend the sound though through 4 speakers. I know my onboard C-Media soundcard has the options in the drivers (though it seems to work only when it feels like it, hehe) :) So I really cant help ya.

Hmm... interesting. I'll have to check on that when I get home. I wonder if anyone else has any suggestions? *hint hint bump*

I just got mine hooked up today, and I had no sound to rear speakers for movies either , checked all my settings and everything looked a,ok . hehe the fade was set to the forward speakers only  . so that fixed the problem. the thing i am curious about is that the speakers are 4.1 but my game theater will not support the rear speakers in movies in 4.1 mode only in 4 speaker mode , this is confusing , oh well they still sound awesome and the BASS ROCKS!! but if anyone know's why the 4.1 is wacked, please post

thanks in advance!!;)

the problem with vcd and mpg is that i think it's only have 2 channel. It doesn't support 4 channels or 5.1 like dvd are. So whenever you play them, i suggest you turn on the M3D option. That's what it for. It can turn 2 channels sound into 4 channels.
