can anyone honestly say turning it on improves sound? I really cant tell.. i can tell that it sounds different, but im not sure if it sounds better or not. Im using an Acoustic Edge. Maybe it was meant to be used for only the old sound cards?

M3d stands for mock 3d I believe... basicly, it takes anything that is programmed in 2 channels, and transforms it into fake surround... if you're listening to a DVD you will lose quality, not gain it. It's more or less for VCD and poorly ripped MP3, and games that don;t support positional sound I believe.

Its basically a surround decoder. Like turning pro-logic on. It has its uses, but certainly not for normal music usage, unless you like crappy sound. Logitech for some reason thinks this sounds good on normal music.

Its good for dolby surround downmixed movies, and for gamecube games, or anything else encoding in dolby surround or pro logic, but NOT dolby digital.
