well i am not sure about the next 3dmark, maybe with this one of you had a 9700, a P4 4.0ghz and say 1 gig of RAM on the newest mobo the you would probably get about 28000 marks or something on this version of 3dmark.
maybe that is a little high right now, but you never know if ATI will release higher clocked 9700's.
i mean with games like UT2003 which already cripples most systems with all the candy turned on and DOOM 3 arriving next year, they will take over the benchmarks like quake 3 used to hold.
like when the first Athlons came out and P3's we all wondered how they would perform in quake 3 we will use UT2003 to benchmark games with the newer pentium 4's and such
only the game will be a lot prettier.
not sure what kinda features directX 9 will have but i sure hope it is a big leap and that people actually get round to using it. only now have they started to bring out games that make use of 8.1 and we already have 9.0.
what on earth is the point?
if what seems to be the only game that is making use of it (DOOM 3) is coming out late next year then i really dont see the point
