Logitech z5500: Attempting to get a "Stereo x2" type sound on 5.1?

I love my surround sound. Though I hate the 90% of the sound coming through the center front speaker and 10% of the sound coming out of the front left/right speaker and virtually 0% coming out of the back speakers. Stereo X2 mode rocks, all 5 speakers play nice and loud and it really feels like the surround sound I want to hear.

The problem? Many programs, videos, and games use 5.1 and if in Stereo X2 mode, many sounds get drowned out and just don't play. I want that loud "full surround" experience in 5.1 24/7. Is this something I could somehow set up?

Then you're missing the point of 5.1. It may also be your 5.1 isn't setup properly and the level of the surround speakers needs to be boosted.
