Logitech z540 or Logitech z640?

I'm using the onboard audio, C-Media 6Channel audio. Does that support 5.1? If not I'll pickup a soundcard. Will the speakers work without the 5.1 support? I think they will, but don't wanna get them here and not be able to use them.

Also I'm thinking the 640's for 11 more, which from the reviews I've read is a helluva deal.

?? Look on the back and see if there's a pair of green and black colored headphone jacks.

I have the 640s connected to those jacks through a KVM switch and I love mine. I am very pleased with the 640s because they have a front mount headphone jack (like the 340s or 560s have, but is curiously missing in the 540 line).

I ordered these and they should be arriving on Friday, all i wonder is will i be able to hook these up to me dvd player?

Unless you watch a lot of DVDs, I would go with a higher quality 4.1 setup. 5.1 setups only really shine when playing a movie on them because the center channel can be used for voices. However, for gaming and music, a 4.1 setup can offer high-fidelity playback and good positional audio.
