logitech z3 vs 640

I currently have the logitech 640s 5.1 system. but I don't have the room layout to rear mount the 2 rear speakers. Does this mean that my 5.1 system is pretty much a waste? If I'm going to get equal performance from 2.1's... I'm looking at Z3's... for the desktop space factor and the remote and the cool looking factor.

thoughts?
 
I've currently using both sets....the 640s on my PC with the full 5.1 setup, and I just got the Z3s for my son's PC. Honestly, the 640s sound good, but the rears lack the umph IMHO. If you don't have the space then I'd say just go with the Z3s. They sound pretty good, plus, I got ours for around $8 shipped from Amazon with a recent MIR thanks to slickdeals.net. I will say that while the "remote" volume control looks cool, it was horribly implemented on the Z3s. The box is attached to the cabling halfway between the front speakers and makes for a cabling mess. They should have just had one cable running from one of the speakers. It would have been a lot neater, but still, I'm not complaining for $8. 🙂
 
can you PM me the deal? or is it over? I couldn't find it on slickd3als. Right now amazon has the wood panel z3's for 37 AR... and I have a 25GC to add to that. $12... not too shabby.
 
sorry, but the deal I got is over I'm sure. This was over a month ago. Still, $12 isn't shabby at all! Those are the same ones I got in on.
