I just noticed that newegg.com carried Logitech X-530s for around 60 dollars, and I'm wondering if these are better than the Z-640s? Has anyone had any experience with them yet?

Not sure if this would be a valid opinion, but...

The X-530s should be very clear, as the SNR is >96 dB. I have the 2.1 X-230s (same design) and they're very clear, at least in music. Certainly better than my uncle's Z-640 set there.

Logitechs lineup so far:

z560 boomy as hell
z680 makes the 560 look tight
z5300 even sloppier then the 680
z5500 10in sub with a bigger port in the same size encloure? Only time will tell but I have my strong doubts.

Go with the klipsch GMX 2.1 since your kind of on a budget.

Anyone who has a clue about speakers would obviously agree.

Another thing, I wouldnt get a low end 5.1 system, rather then a high-mid end 2.1 system, dont kid your self, these things scream. But if you really want a 5.1 sytem by all means go with logitech.

I'm really not an audiophile. My current audio set up is Creative Labs 2400 Inspire, and a Yamaha sound card. I bought this PC 4 years ago, and it came w/ it and its decent. I'll also be using MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum's onboard sound so it'll be useless for me to buy high end. So anyways, Z-640 vs X-530s please
