Logitech z-640 sound issues

I have verafied that the speakers are plugged in properly, yet I cannot get the sound to come out of the front speakers...the center channel, base and 2 rear speakers work fine when set to a 6 speaker setup in xp. The front speakers work only when I setup XP to use an 8 channel speaker system. Then the front speakers work as the side channel speakers. I have a DFI Lanparty UT 250GB MB and I use the onboard sound. This is really frustrating...

Afraid I don't know much about the motherboard you're using, but the usual suggestion might work - try new drivers for the onboard sound? Who manufactured the sound chip on that motherboard?
DFI's site mentions the ALC850, but that might just be the codec; kind of looks like it might be nVidia in charge of the sound signal generation, so maybe their site would be the place to go for updated drivers.

I installed the new sound drivers yesterday.... no change. Driving me nuts... Looks like I will have to go back to my old speakers for now and try to figure this out later.
