threadcrapping commences...

I own these speakers, and they are pretty weak for a 5.1 system... only about 60 watts of total power I think are coming out of the speakers. Honestly if you're gonna get a 5.1 .. GET A 5.1 WITH SOME POWER. A 2 or 3.1 with this much power would be great, but honestly they dont do enough or have long enough cords to justify a 5.1 ..

just my 2 cents

Personally I have an Altec Lansing 4.1 setup over 200 watts. But a lot of people don't need that much power.

yea Im not saying theyre crappy speakers, they have a nice sound, but for how short the cords are and how little total output they have most people really could survive on 2.1 or 3.1's with this much power ... if you wanna get 5.1's I'd suggest going big and either getting a HTinaB or else the 680's

I am using a set. They do the job. I can't afford a $200 set of speakers, though I wish I could.

They are decent. I didn't expect much for about the 50-60 bucks that i paid for it. One major gripe I have is that the headphone volume can't be adjusted with the speaker, only though my media player or the sound settings. :|

Ordered a set yesterday. They should sound pretty good with the Audigy2 ZS I ordered from newegg and considering I am upgrading my speakers for the first time in about 5 years. I am still using the Altec lansing that came with my gateway PPro 200 system ages ago, along with an old sound blaster live value.

:D

What model do you have? I have the Altec Lansing AC56 gaming speakers.

You really think the cords are short?! I have to use zipties because the wires are too long...

Great bang for the buck. Sure, who wouldnt like a Klipsch or Logitech 5.1 but the $300 - $450 price difference helps the decision process nicely.

scored one of these. this speaker is f ken loud for your info. who the hell say it is weak? I sinserely think this speaker is all well worth it now considering it used to cost 160 back in the days, like 2 years ago.

Picked these up 8 months ago for 45.00. Good set of speakers and they are loud enough to make my family complain. I'm not sure how enjoyable any set of speakers would be cranked up at high wattage all the time. Power is not an issue. These replaced a set of creative labs fps 2000 4.1, although the creative set has more highs. For 53.00, you can't go wrong.

if we had enough money for 680's we wouldn't be looking in this thread.
