Logitech Z-560 or Z-5300 for music and movies

I currently have the Z-560 and I think they are fine. I know the Z-5500 is the obvious upgrade, but I know someone who is getting rid of their Z-5300s and I can get them for free.

The Z-5300 are 280 watts compared to 400 watts on the Z-560, although I've never turned up the volume more than half way. Will that make a huge difference?

I think the extra center channel would be nice for DVDs.

I'm using a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 card. It sounds fine to me, but I've heard good things about the Chaintech AV-710 being a cheap upgrade.

I really liked my z-560s while I had them. I'd say that if you're not turning up the 560s all the way (because that would be crazy anyway 😉) then take the 5300s. A center will be nice if you watch a lot of movies.

The sub on the z-560s is where a lot of the value comes in for them. If you're really into bass, I'd say stick with the 560s.

Or.... get the 710 and run 7.1 with both sets. (well, 7.2 actually) Run the 5300s for everything except for the front L/R jack and run the 560s with only 2 speakers attached for the fronts.

Place the subs together to try to minimize interference.

If you have to pick one this is a really tough call though as both are nice options in that price range.

I know my SB live was crap and I know the AV-710 is good in digital mode, but I'm not so sure how great its 3 DACs are other than the 7/8 wolfsen (sp?) one are. I think they would be of fine quality for a logitech set though... plus with digital out you have an option for upgrading later.
