Hi all,

I just pruchased the Logitech Z-5500's after my Klipsch 4.1 Promedia's died. I would like to hook these up for 5.1 with my soundcard. If you have experience configuring this card with these speakers, could you please post the best way to set these up. I assume I will have to use the versa jack to get 5.1. I have no idea what the config for these speakers will be as I just ordered them from newegg and there is just a two page pdf on the logitech site that is not very helpful. I can't tell whether I plug things into the back of the control module or the sub/amp.

Thanks in advance,
LJ

You should be able to figure things out once the speakers get to you.

I don't own these, but if I understand the setup correctly:

Set santa cruz to 5.1 with the versajack
Plug in the three 3.5mm connectors from the control pod into the santa cruz
Plug the control pod into the sub
Attach the speakers via provided speaker wire into the sub keeping an eye on polarity

I seem to remember the santa cruz being able to send digital via the versa jack, but you don't want to do that if you're interested in surround sound in games.

If you are just doing music / movies, you might want to try that just to compare the difference between the quality of the analog output of the santa cruz vs having the control pod to the digital to analog conversion.

Very helpful, thank you. I think I will go straight analog. I do play games and I don't watch moives on the PC much. I do play a lot of tunes, but I think the analog should be fine.
