I was realy looking forward to having suround sound speakers. I also have a Soundblaster ZS2 pro platnium card. No matter what I have tried the best I can get is stero or center chanel.
I run the set up with the creative software spearker set up and stillno sound from the Rear or Sub Spearker.
Odd thing is I can you the chanel test Speaker control Moduel and Get sound from all Speakers.
I am using the Lates Drivers and Have tried using what I hope was the right type of Digital cabel to the sound card.
The cabel may be the problem if anyone else has had this troubel and figured a way to fix it please let me no

Thanks

The speaker test will not work with a digital connection. You won't get positional audio in games. You will only get positional audio in material already encoded such as DVDs with DD or DTS

^^What he said. With an Audigy of any type, you can only get real-time surround/5.1 sound through analog connections.

Honestly I would suggest sticking with the sound card you have and using the analog connections (you only get PCM stereo through a digital connection unless it's passing along a pre-encoded DD/DTS signal). There are only about three ways to get real-time Dolby Digital encoding - those being the Nvidia nForce2 Soundstorm (requires a now "old" Socket A motherboard), the HDA X-Mystique 7.1, and I believe Turtle Beach(?) has such a card out now as well.

Your Audigy 2 ZS will be fine though. You don't "need" to connect the speakers digitally.

I have the speakers and the same card. They were well worth the money, sadly they are better then my hometheater speakers. Unless you are making your compy your home theater I wouldnt worry about the digital, and just connect it the old fashion way. Because in the games you cannot get true 5.1.

ok thanks only reason I was wanting to get 5.1 is I heard games like EQ 2 wich I may go back to KOTOR 2 and some future games will be supporting 5.1. Hearing sounds like some one walking behind you, gunfire and such makes the game feel more realistick and may give you a edge in FPS shooters once they use it. Like they say if they make it soume one will find a way to use it.
And man I wish Sound storm would come back or at least make a card to buy I heard so much about it but I was using Intel back when it was out.

You can still get 5.1 sound if you connect all three analog connections, it just won't be sent digitally. :p

If I could figure out how to get the Optical cabel input to a Suround AMP/tuner that would make a sweet Game/movie/game system
