hey all I need a set of computer speakers, and while I prefer the klipsch, ive been through 3 sets of bad amps, and dont wnat to deal anymore with that

so anyway they are on sale at mwave for 214 shipped

but I need to know if I can switch out the satellites? ie are the speakers hardwired in the back, or do they have the clip connectors like the klipsch do, as I have some older satellites laying around

and lastly anyone happen to know the ohm rating on the subwoofer, and the satellites? are they 6 ohm or 8 ohm?

thanks

Don't know the ohm rating, I believe they used to run off of RCAs.. but now they ship with speaker clips on the back, not hard wired. So you can switch out the satellites.

What size wire do you need with that or does it matter? My current z-560's are setup with some 16 (or 18... whatever it is it's larger than the standard z-560 wire) guage wire I picked up and as they are failing I am looking to replace them with the 5500's. Would the same wire work for the new speakers as well? thanks!

im using monster 16ga, with small pin plugs on the ends, I bought the wire and measured it against the stock wire, and crimped the pin plugs on the ends

Yes, the same wires will work. The current version of the Z-5500 uses standard speaker wire. I held off on buying mine until they got rid of the RCA connector sattelites.

Great, thanks for the answers (did not mean to threadjack OP...) I may order a set of these soon as my now 3.1 set of z-560's is getting annoying. The whole deaf in one corner makes it hard to spot enemies in BF 2...

Still, they will make a kick butt 2.1 setup for another pc.
