Very good speakers indeed. I got these for my sister and they are fantastic (I paid $300 locally w/tax). I couldn't decide if I liked my Klipsch Promedia's more. They seemed very close in quality (very roughly speaking). Overall I would say these are some of the best box set computer speakers. I'm sure most ratings would agree.
 
I pulled the trigger, can't beat free shipping. Plus I had a random 20 bucks in my paypal game from an ebay sale. Total price after rebate 150 =-)

I'm assuming these will be a stellar replacement for my kenwood 5.1 receiver with yardsale speakers.
 
Alright speakers (I have them myself); but they're only average. A good buy at this price. The Klipchs are definitely better. Pick those up if you get a chance instead of these. You can listen to them at OfficeDepot and compare to the Logitech set they have (the ones they have on display sound exactly like these z5500's I have).

Klipchs also do not have an underpowered subwoofer, this one is, especially seeing as it's ported. Bass sounds muddy.

This is a great system for money for a home theater system, but if you're buying to listen to music (especially rock; due to the weak sub the kick part of the drums is quite lacking and delayed) pick up something else.
 
May have been mistaken about that free shipping at Amazon (added link quickly after I saw price). 🙁

Yardsale speakers can be great actually 🙂 Many 20+ year old systems can be very good by today's standards, especially when for amps and speakers. Great quality, well kept old speakers are generally as good now as they were then, sometimes better.

I bought these for rock music. I like them but I'm ready for something better. Recommendation please? Preferably something with a subwoofer for $500 or less.

I can confirm that Amazon refunded my ~$40 shipping charge after they changed this deal to include free shipping. I ordered one day before they dropped the shipping to free. No hassles at all.

I didn't use that refundplease website, but i'm checking it out now. Interesting!
