They aren't meant to replace the z-680's. From what I have heard they are pretty good speakers especially for the price, I think you can get them from Amazon for a little less.

I bought these speakers from Amazon for 149.99 w/Free Shipping. They are great, clean, clear mids/highs and very good Bass, almost too aggressive sometimes, but I believe that is a trait of Logitech speakers in general. I paired them up with a Sound Blaster audigy ZS Platinum and couldn't be happier with the sound or the amount of money I paid! Wall mounting is really simple, just be advised that the center channel cannot be mounted. I highly reccomend these and don't really see a reason to by the Z-680's over these unless you need the DTS/Dolby Digital decoder built right in to the speaker set.

If I had to rate them on a scale of five, I would give them a 4.5!

Also be advised that the sub for these speakers is massive, and I do mean massive, it is almost bigger than the Onkyo I bought for my home theater!

I've been saving up for the Klipsch Ultras then by pure luck, I happened across some reviews for the z5300s. What really guage me was some reviews said the 5300s cannot compete with the Klipsch, but for it's performance/price ratio, it's the best. I also got the impression that it can stand shoulder to shoulder with it's brethen, the z680s. This is awesome, considering one is $400 and the other is $219. This alone should sell anyone on it.

I've been looking at them too. I want to upgrade from my MidiLand 8200 (speakers were ok at the time, but treble sucks compared to my prior speakers (DTS-1000, lol), and these sounded better at a Best Buy display). I'd probably rather hook the new Creative DDTS-100 up to these then get the z680s from what I've heard.

Nice signature jazzhound. :p
