I think I'll pick these up for my sis for christmas....anyone have any input on how they sound or how loud they get? She lives in a dorm and she wants some decent volume for low-key parties...I was going to go with the z-2300s but 90.00 is just too much to front for a poor college kid such as myself

These will get decently loud. How big is the room she's in and what kind of volume levels are we talking about?

I did a short demo of some z-3s in a person's dormroom last year and they got pretty loud. Plenty for a dormroom really.

they are really good, I have the wood set, sound very smooth, the bass is solid tight, awesome for MP3s

I have the wood set too. Worked great for over a year. Three weeks ago the left speaker stopped working. I think while I was gone my friend blew it but he says it wasn't him. Possibly just the speakers. Not bad for $30, not bad at all.
