Hi,
I built a cheap integrated system using the Abit NF7-M motherboard. The beauty of this is that I get decent onboard graphics and audio that could be upgraded as more money flows my way. As an upgrade to my simple headphones, I picked up the logitech 6.1 speaker system and have been trying to get it to work with my computer.
Firstly, I noticed that Diablo 2 (yes, some people still play this =P) doesn't show up any enviromental sound settings, they are still grayed out. So i went into NVmixer (as this is a cleanly formatted computer with only core apps, windows updates, and the latest nvidia drivers) and tried the speaker wizard with the following results:
white noise comes out on all speakers, analog and digital
left front speaker works
right front speaker works
High pitched noise comes out of all my speakers when testing the center speaker
all speakers make white noise when testing left-rear speaker
all speakers make white noise when testing right-rear speaker
a weird humming noise comes from all speakers when testing the subwoofer (the sub is working too in this test).
These results seem messed up to me, and would appreciate any help. In my time googling i found a reference to soundstorm and sndstorm.exe, but its not running in as one of my processes. I wonder if I need to install any additional utilities?
Please point me the right direction
PS Running windows XP Pro and have the source selector switch to 5.1 (I've moved it around to no avail)
