Logitech X540 sound fluctuating

Hello everyone,
I have logitech x540 from past 2.5 years and it always sounded good but from past 10-12 days i am experiencing a strange problem. The sound of speakers is automatically fluctuating plus its getting distorted. This is happening in games, movies and audio tracks. I have read about this strange problem on various forums but no solution so far. I have reinstalled all drivers, checked the wires connection, checked all possible settings. Is this problem can be cured or i have to buy new speakers ?

Can you drive them from some other device (iPod, phone, whatever) and see if the fluctuations continue? That'll let you know if it's an issue with the PC or the speakers themselves.

I already tried it with my friend's laptop and with my galaxy s3, but the problem is still there and the problem disappears when i start speakers after a long time and then it gets worse and worse.

My bet is that the amp built into the subwoofer is going out. Looks like the X-540's come with a 2-year warranty, so you are past that. While the amp could be repaired, you might have better luck finding a used replacement on ebay or craigslist.
