It's not overpriced, it's the MSRP. You can get it for around $40 at some vendors however.

From the stores I've seen them for sale it, $80 is horribly overpriced. Check here for $45 and $40. This is if you're in Toronto of course.

The speakers are worth 80 dollars, but you can find them much cheaper.

X-530 is getting old. They've been at the same price for maybe 2 years now. my friend got an x-530 for 40 bucks last year and now they broke.

So are you buying speakers for sound or for looks? 😛

Prices of wood (MDF), paper drivers, crossovers, are a materials cost that aren't going to go down (and creep down at best) because they aren't driven by the same type of competition that exists in the electronics market. But for decor, sure, newer stuff might look better/different, and dictate a change in price for older products.
