I recently bought a Logitech Webcam. After installing it, it caused my PC to malfunction. When trying to launch the Video application. My PC restarted after launching the Video application. The webcam worked as I saw video of myself for 2-4 seconds before the PC restarted.
I loaded the software. Launched the Video Application. PC restarted. I uninstalled software checked other programs. PC was fine. I installed the software from the website. same thing happened. Launched Video application PC restarted.
I returned the webcam for a new one. Same thing happened. PC restarts after connecting the webcam and launching the Video application. I did the same thing I tried software from both the website and from the disk.

I have Windows XP sp3. All other programs seem fine. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I googled this problem. I found many many posts of this technical issue. But no clear cut way to fix it.

Which camera? I have the QuickCam 9000 and have no issues with Windows XP or Vista.

Its the Quickcam for notebooks. Im installing ti on a regular pc, but I read its just a redesigned Quickcam Pro.

I am going to try and reinstall it a couple more times. It seems that people who have had troubles like this have had hit and miss luck reinstalling the software.

I am going to try iinstalling it on my other pc before returning it a second time.

I returned the webcam for a Gigaware Webcam. It refuses to display any video.

It shows up in devices says it is working. No matter how many times I reinstall the software/drivers. No picture. Update driver rollback driver uninstall driver reinstall wait to install driver then connect Webcam... Everything checks out normal and working properly.

No luck.

I read at Radio shack from a review that it is not XPSP3 compatible and that there is a special "Webcam Chipset Driver".

Anyone ever had a problem like this with the Gigaware Webcam? Or can anyone confirm what I read?

Worked first time while loading it on my friend's 5 year old laptop.

Im going to check with the motherboard company (both pcs have same MB) and maybe Video card settings.
