Logitech WebCam doesn't work with messenger?

I recently bought the usb "Logitech QuickCam Messenger" webcam to be able to use it with popular instant messaging apps like yahoo messenger, etc. After installing the software, I can access the webcam in "my computer" and it shows live video, but it doesn't work with ANY of my messenger applications. How can I remedy this? I used to have an old bottom-of-the-line logitech webcam with no mic that was very easy to use and messenger apps recognized it easily. 🙁
 
doh... i just figured it out. Basically when you click "start webcam" in yahoo and you don't receive a live video, just click through the options menu of that video box and select the appropriate source...in my case it was the logitech cam... "thorry" for wasting space. maybe some1 will find this fix useful.
