Logitech VX Revolution mouse

Muse

Lifer
Just arrived, and unopened, I see on the box it requires XP or Vista. I have XP Pro on my laptop but I was hoping to make it my everyday mouse on my Windows 2000 desktop system. Will it work? Maybe if I don't use the software?

It will definitely work without the software, but try and install it anyway. Logitech are generally good at making their software compatible. Alternatively, you could ask Logitech.

Inserting the CD I get a little message saying "Sorry, this software is not compatible with your operating system. Please visit <logitech website> to download a compatible version."

Wonder how much support will be built in. Anyway, I can use it with my laptop.

Try installing SetPoint 3.10, as it supports Windows 2000, and just might support your mouse.

Yo, good call. I didn't jot down the link in the message and reinserted the CD but my box won't read it! So, I went to Logitech's site and downloads/Mice/ VX Revolution Mouse and the only versions available are XP, Vista and Mac! I'm downloading 3.10 right now! The CD says v. 3.01.

Curse those vendors and their cutting off of support for windows 2000. It's not so different! EA Link won't work on win2k and my friend can't download and play the new BF2142 expansion pack with me 🙁.

Yeah, although I know they make about the best mice I am not a big fan of Logitech. I have an MX510 on my Windows 2000 desktop and I had to uninstall their software immediately, so I run without it. Also had to immediately uninstall that utility they place on your desktop to keep you "informed" or whatever the hell it was.

Actually, I'm getting very inconsistent behavior in XP Pro on my notebook with the mouse. At first the vertical scrolling seemed to work as advertised but now it's real slow like it is on my desktop with the VX Revolution. I decided I actually like it that way, since it minimizes the increments of the jerky scrolling and if you need any kind of speed, you just leave the mouse in smooth scrolling and spin the fvcker.

Edit: So now I test the VX on my desktop and it's vertical scrolling fast. Craziness!
