Logitech VX Revolution Mouse - Notebook version

Anyone use this mouse? I love logitech mice and products in general. I have played with the regular VX Revolution at stores before and am thinking of getting it as well.

How does the notebook version feel compared to the regular?

Also I have read some problems with the software as well. Whats the scoop on this? I would hate to get a mouse with a lot of extra features I can't use cause the software sucks.

I will be running win xp too.

I own a VX revolution that I keep in my work laptop bag in case I get tired of the touch pad. It's a decent mouse despite not having the logitech drivers loaded on it (my IT department doesn't allow us the ability to load software and I couldn't get their permission). My only issue with it is that it goes to sleep very quickly (~20 seconds of inactivity) so you need to move the mouse quickly for 3-4 seconds before it starts tracking again.

The other issue I have is minor because I can't load the software for it, but the scroll wheel doesn't seem to click to the right as well as it does to the left (for side scrolling windows). I haven't bothered with rma'ing it though because for the $20 I spent on it, it does what I want it to do most of the time.

I own the Revolution for notebooks- I like it a lot, esp. for web browsing (I set the little silver button right behind the click wheel to close tabs, it's fantastic).

The software isn't too bad- for one or two programs I had to enter my settings in a couple times before they actually took effect, but haven't had any problems since then. I also didn't have the problem described above where the mouse falls asleep.

Only thing I don't like too much is the click wheel is very hard to click- to push straight down requires a decent bit of force, and if you push a little bit to the side while doing it you'll end up side scrolling (or whatever you have assigned to the click wheel's right-left function). Still, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

well I went ahead and got the mouse, office depot had one on display and it felt pretty darn good

like all logitech stuff seems pretty sturdy and so far no complaints about the software, its working like a dream

and the frictionless scroll wheel is amazing when browsing long threads on boards.
