Which is a better, more comfortable trackball, the Logitech Trackman Marble FX or the Microsoft Trackball Explorer? Comfort, smooth operation, functionality and durability are my primary concerns.
Ok....I decided on the Logitech Trackman Marble FX. I've owned several Logitech trackballs in the past, and loved them all.
Incidently, I did order a Logitech Trackman Marble FX at the end of last week, but the one I received feels sort of "gritty" as compared to my two Marble Mice (all optical trackballs). I think the problem is with one of the rollers...I'm not sure. I just know that the Marble Mouse that I used prior to this (as well as my husband's Marble Mouse) moves as smoothly as glass. I'm chalking this one up to a defect, and returning it. Since I needed to order another trackball, I thought about taking a look at the MS Trackball Explorer, but in the end, decided to go with another Logitech Trackman FX. Other than the "gritty" feeling of the *defective* FX, I really loved the thing. Hopefully the replacement will run more smoothly.
yeah, i would've told you the same thing knowing your logitech history ;-) but more importantly, i would've told you to go outside and see which fits your "hand" (primary user) better.
did you know that logitech even made a wireless version? it was a shocker when i browsed their site.
the only thing the explorer trackball has going for it is because i like the idea of the trackball having a real scroll wheel. and it's probably what I would get since it also fits my hand.
Actually, it was because of the scroll wheel I decided against the MS trackball, vs the Logitech one (I like the smooth scrolling of the Logitech vs. the clicking of the MS scroll wheel). That and the fact that I like Logitech products so darned much.
BTW, today I received my replacement Trackman Marble FX. It works great, and is as smooth as can be! I'm so glad I decided to go with this one. Thanks again for your help.
