Just received a 50% coupon from Logitech and was looking at the Logitech Squeezebox Touch.

Curious to know, outside of my pc, what are other alternatives?

There is the Sonos player (which is very expensive if you don't have a smartphone or other wi-fi device that can control the unit).

I think Grace may have made a player as well. Not sure if they currently market one.

I have both the Touch and the older Squeezebox 3rd generation. I love the touch. The display is large enough to read across a good sized room and I like being able to easily control the unit when I am next to it without having to have the remote in my hand.

I have the older Squeezebox (3rd gen I'm pretty sure). I've been buying audio for roughly forty years and, with the possible exception of the large Advents from my first system which I foolishly gave away, the squeezebox is the most useful audio product I ever bought.

Converted all my CDs to flac files, and put all new ones in storage just as soon as I have ripped them to flac.

Logitech also does an A-1 job of updating the software and has a great forum as well.

For music only:

(1) AirPlay. Only problem is that neither the AirPort Express nor the current-gen AppleTV have simultaneous analog and digital audio out. If you don't need this for a zone 2 setup, it's cheap, easy, and works with any iOS or Android device as controller.

(2) WDTV + DLNA server. If you're using Android, 2player is the best control app to push music straight to the WDTV (don't need to directly control it), and Serviio is probably the best server. Not sure about iOS.
