I have the Z-680 and I love them. I use them on my PC, DVD player and Xbox. Built in Dolby Decoding and the such... for really cheap... I think I got mine for $150 shipped on ebay. Basically just an older version of the Z-5500.

My brother has z-680s set up on his home theater (dvd/vhs/tv/ps2/gamecube). Sounds fantastic! DVD movies are especially cool.

Does watts matter?

Both these sets are going to get pretty darn loud. Wattage isn't a huge deal.

There are other factors like the sensitivity of the speakers that make "wattage" not a very accurate measurement of how loud something is going to be, as well as measurements of wattage being pretty unreliable.

If you're trying to get more of a HT system out of these, the Z-680s would be a better bet than the z-5300s with only analog inputs.

I just got the 5300e for $85 circuit city PM to mwave.com. It sounds fantastic. 280 watts is more than enough for a decent sized room.
