Logitech quickcam web problem using with XP and VIA chipset

Hi:

I have a logitech quickcam web http://www.gearpreview.com/tech/webcam/qweb.html

However, i have problem when i use it under XP and my ASUS A7V (via chipset). For some reason it works fine on all other PCs running XP, and it also runs fine on the ASUS A7V board under Win 98.

But if i run XP on the ASUS board, the quick cam web will get detected..and it will run and capture images as usual but very quickly it'll freeze. I can still use other programs but whatever program using the camera will freeze and I have to kill it.

Tried installing those VIA 4-in-1 pack and USB filter stuff. Nothing really helped. Anybody knows of a remedy? I've read many forums and a lot of ppl seem to have having this problem as well. They claim it to be a problem with Xp and the via chipset. sort of like a "perfect storm" problem.

Let me know if anybody has a solution to this. Help appreciated.
