Logitech Optical mouse

I have a Logitech M-BD58 and I find this mouse skipping/jumpy when I have it tilted about 20° from vertical axis and push in NNW or SSE direction. (note N=front of my desk, W=left and so on ). It does it regardless of what surface I use it on and I had this darn thing replaced once. Anyone having same problem? Also the scroll roller has alot of play and it scrolls a notch or two within the play. I don't think its built as well as my old mechanical Logitech mouse.
 
i have the m-bd53 and i don't have any problems with it. i also owned a logitech mouseman a few years ago and i have to say i didn't notice much of a difference after upgrading to an optical.
