logitech mx900 battery life :(

hey guys, I recently got the mx900 bluetooth mouse, and the battery life is terrible

If i leave it outside of the charger for a few hours the light would start blinking and it would die after 5-6 hrs ish....

IS IT SUPPOSE TO BE THAT SHORT????? my old cordless optical last a month...

thx

looks like a nice mouse. But the reviews I saw said 2-3 days. Sounds like you may have gotten some bum batteries, also they prolly gave you small capacity ones too. go out an buy some 2200+ma rechargable AAs from radio shack or best buy and see how those do.

That sounds way short. I pretty much always put mine in the cradle if I am going to be away from my PC for awhile so mine is usually pretty well charged. Sometimes I forget though and I know mine can go at least a day if not more without charging. So 5-6 hours would seem to indicate some sort of problem.

I just got the bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo that comes with the mx900, and also have noticed short battery life. Then, I noticed that the instruction sheet states:

For a full capacity charge, three complete charges are needed.

Seeing as you posted over a month ago, I assume that's what happened with yours WuGaCha, and hopefully my battery life will increase as well.

We'll see...

What they said. I noticed it as well, but the first charge doesn't last...then the second is a bit longer, and, hehe, I haven't gotten to the third yet, but I understand what the instructions said and they have been true so far. I'll repost after the third charge.

unless you really need bluetooth, return it and get the mx100 instead. the price difference is only a couple of dollars.

Exactly why I love the MX1000 so much more than my MX700. The battery life on the MX700/900 sucks. MX1000 lasts nearly a week. MX700 lasts about 2 days. Also the battery on the MX1000 is much lighter, and I find the shape more ergonomic too.

The main advantage for me with the bluetooth combo is the range of 30 feet. Most wireless keyboards have a range of around 6 feet, which isn't quite far enough for me (I use a big screen TV as my second monitor, so I sit about 6 to 8 feet away on a sofa). Otherwise, I would agree that the cheaper options would be just as good, if not better.

Also, since my earlier post, the battery life has gotten much better (don't know exactly how long one charge lasts, though, since I charge it overnight every night). In the first few charges, it was giving the low batt warning in less than one day. It's not doing that anymore.

After my third charge, the battery lasted much longer. It took the abuse of online surfing for several hours using all the buttons available to simplify surfing and gaming of Homeworld 2 for at least 3 hours of constant battle. Just now, at 8pm I am getting a low battery warning. 3 Days without charging, Not Bad, I think. not bad.
