Right now, I need a new keyboard/mouse. Had this current setup for ages... my 1st gen MS cordless mouse sucked and now that the technology as somewhat matured, Im looking towards these two well known and respected pieces of equipment.

The price difference between the MX900 and MX700 Mouse/Keyboard combos is £40 or roughly $60-70. Id like to know some benefits of splashing out this extra bit of dosh and also whether I can use it. Its 7:29AM here so excuse my lack of coherance. Busy sifting though the Logitech FAQ, it seems as though all i need to do is purchase the mouse/keyboard combo and ill be able to use it assuming that i have the spare usb ports. Is this correct?

I think I'll be keeping this combo for a while.... I just dont know whether I'll use bluetooth, perhaps for voice over in Instant Messaging... but I suppose a normal mic would do. Can anyone throw up some theory here?

Thanks in advance. If I live through University today, I'll be posting replies through the day.

Well, i've got an mx700, and am using it with an older logitech cordless keyboard, and I have to say its a superb bit of kit. Either of the combos will be great - just plug the receiver into a USB port and you'll be good to go.

About the mx900 combo - the price difference is significant, on a product thats not cheap to start with. Basically you are paying extra for a built in bluetooth hub. If the extra cash doesn't bother you, then why not go for the mx900 - it may well come in useful in the future - if you use a bluetooth headset for a mobile you'll be able to use it for the pc as well.

But thus far, despite the possibilities, bluetooth hasn't really taken off, and its difficult to see many devices that would take advantage of it for the pc.

Thanks for the feedback.

As Ive said, my knowledge on Bluetooth's uses is limited so I think I'll take a look around to see whats available, whats coming out soon and decide on that basis.

Are there any direct additional benefits to using Bluetooth over the conventional radio signal? such as faster response time, less chance of interference, longer range etc.
