Logitech Mx700 question

I really like teh battery lvl and the quick pick button features that came with the logitech mx700 software. The problem is that I cannot get Halo or any other game to reckognize the extra buttons when this software is isntalled. I uninstalled the software and it works great with halo and Counter strike. So my question is how do i keep the bells and whistles and get the mouse to work with my games
 
If you go to your mouseware properties/button/select button you want to modify/select keystroke/enter a keyboard key to map to. Example say you want to map the R key To reload in a game map it to R what ever button you want.
BUT that mouse button wont work after that for for surffing or apps unless you unmap it again to default or what ever it was before.
 
There are tons of posts on here about the bad Logitech software. I had problems with it myself when I had a logitech mouse a few years ago. Guess that's one reason I use a MS mouse now.

That and hardware problems.
