I noticed that Radio Shack has it for $10 after a $50 rebate. I currently have an LX5 mouse, and it's ok but very basic and small. Is the MX610 a worthy upgrade for $10?

I'm not going to use this for gaming, just general use. I plan on getting a G5 or 7 later on.

I have both, and definitely prefer the physical feel of the MX610- weight is better distributed and the feel of the forward and back buttons is the best of any Logitech mouse I have used so far. I no longer use any mouse drivers, so I could not tell you about any of the extra driver-dependent functions. The two mice have the same DPI, and despite the MX610 having a laser sensor, I did not notice any difference between the two tracking-wise. Granted, this was only under non-gaming conditions.

If you can get the rebate, it would be a good deal. I personally like a slightly higher DPI even for general work (have the LX7 and love it).

I was thinking that as long as I got the rebate it would be ok. I can give my LX5 to my folks. They don't need anything fancy by any means.

I have received the two or three Logitech rebates I sent out in the past, so you should have no problems there (provided you fulfill your end according to instructions). They have always been very prompt and professional, unlike some rebate handlers I have had the displeasure of dealing with.
