Logitech MX518 keeps scrolling down

Its definitely the mouse.

The first day it happened it was really bad, scrolling very fast, mostly down, and I just cleaned the optical contact with water and a Q-Tip and it made it better. Now sometimes after using the computer for a while it scrolls a little bit down. I just clean it with a Q-tip and it usually goes away. I've had the mouse for about 4 years (cant even remember haha). Should I just get a new mouse? Or do I just need to clean it thoroughly and properly?

Before you make any decision I would call Logitech on it. Yes, your out of warranty but they have been known to do out of warranty replacements in the past. I have also heard of them giving discounts but that seems more rare. Worst case they say "screw you" and your back to square one. If they do say this I suggest getting a new mouse since 4 years is a long time for any hard use peripheral to last.

Good luck!

I just bought a new one. I'll prob call em up and try to get a new one then just sell it. I've been too lazy to call them with Xmas holidays and it wasnt even guaranteed for me to get a new one, so I bought one at best buy. Its so smooth, better than before. How do I keep it in good shape this time? How do I clean the optical lenses and shit? Water and q-tip didnt work obviously. And even the scroll wheel is a lot smoother, how do I keep that in good shape?
