Logitech MX510 with Laptop - help needed

I am trying to connect a Logitech MX510 to my laptop but there seems to be some problem with it and the touch pad (Synaptics Touchpad V5.9). I am using the correct drivers Mouseware 9.80 but after the installation I do not have the option to change the button setings of the mouse or the speed of the touchpad which stays to the minimum.
Any help would be welcomed.
