I was wondering if the optical mouse eye was upgraded enough to where I would notice a difference between the two. Because I like the surface of the MX500 but I don't want to get that if the MX510's laser is noticably better. Please reply ASAP. Thanks.

Yes, it's smoother and more accurate. You'll notice the difference but whether it's worth the price difference is something I couldn't tell you.

I don't know if this is true, but I heard higher dpi in MX510 is due to software.

I've three MX500's and one MX510. The difference IS noticable and it's definately not a placebo effect. The real question is whether or not it's worth the upgrade to you. Speaking for myself, I think it is, however I may have been in a different situation as you. I needed the new mouse anyway because I took one of the MX500's to work for my office PC.

It's only enabled when you install MouseWare. Otherwise it's just a cool looking MX500.

I have an MX 900 and I am getting fed up of the rechargable batteries having to recharge them every now and then. As a gamer its no fun with the weight of the mouse too.

I am considering to get the MX 510 as a replacement but I don't know if it is worth the switch with the money involve for a cheaper mouse.
