MWave has the Logitech MX500 mouse for $18.90. Shipping to me in Northern California via ground is $7.37. Not a bad deal if you are looking for a newer mouse shape and excellent corded performance.

Check it out here!

This article puts the mx500 above such lofty competitors as the Diamondback, G5 and others. And it's not subjective.

So, if you wanna learn a bit about mouse performance before buying another one, I'd suggest reading that. It's one of the most creative and well-done computer hardware related reviews I've seen in a long time.

Here's the table of contents showing the mice under review:

I love the MX700, which is the wireless version. I used it for two years before I finally broke down and got the MXRevolution.

I just replaced my 500 with a 518 from Target that was on sale for $29.95 The only reason was that I had worn down the feet, and the rubber coating on the thumbside from using it so much. If I would have seen this deal first, I would have gotten it. Great mouse, Great price!

My 510 rt click started screwing up (probably from gaming) and I took it apart to see if I could fix it. Didn't realize until later that it was still under warrenty and would have been replaced for free if I hadn't tampered with it.

That is a nice mouse, I had one that I bought used and I used it for a good 2 or 3 years until the left button finally wore out and wouldn't click properly anymore. Almost bought another one but I upgraded to the MX518 so I could have the on-the-fly DPI change. Great mice!

a friend of mine had the same right click problem with his 510, contacted logitech, they sent him a new 518 without him sending in the old 510, he gave the 510 to me, i took it apart, fixed the right click and have been using it ever since, that was over a year ago, before that I had an mx500, which i then gave to another friend of mine. great mice all the way around.

Thanks for the heads up. I emailed their support dept and am awaiting a reply.
I knew about the Microsoft mouse replacement program but didn't know Logitech did the same. BTW- how did you fix the mouse button? I think mine exceeded the 100,000 hits playing Unreal Tournament.

what did he overclock the usb rate with?

i just know that i can rub my finger over my mx1000's sensor hole and it will track smoothly whereas if i try that with my mx700 it freaks out.

I have had this mouse for several years now and really love. It has a great feel and weight with a good selection of buttons.

It's built like a tank, and there's a good reason Logitech has used the exact same frame for the MX510 and MX518.

BTW - for MX500/510 owners: You can take out the weight inside the mouse to make it MUCH lighter/comfortable. It does void the warranty but I highly recommend it.

Just be mindful of how to put it back to together if you get the scroll wheel housing to fall apart by accident ;). It fits together easily, you just have to be patient with it.

Got mine today. I like it. I have a question on the wheel. When you push it in, like on a browser page, you get a 4 direction crosshair, like you get on many mice. I can't move the crosshair though. The cruise control buttons work, but I'm thinking I should be able to drag the crosshair and let it automatically scoll up and down. Am I doing something wrong?
