Hey, it used to be $150. So $112 isn't that bad - especially when the mouse alone usually goes for around $70 or so.

Since you spend all of your time on the comuter directly interacting with the keyboard and mouse, it actually makes a lot of sense to drop some money on something nice. The logitech keyboards are quite nice comfort-wise as well. My wife used to get carpal tunnel pain a lot when she used the crappy keyboard that came with her work machine, but she has had no pain at all since she bought herself an MX Duo for her work computer.

As for the hotness of the deal, NewEgg is a slightly better deal for me at $113.98 + $6.99 shipping since the Egg lets me dodge the $9.52 of sales tax Amazon will collect (and the Egg will get it to me a lot faster, too). YMMV depeending upon where you live.

I just don't quite understand why someone would pay more for the package than for both individual pieces.

you can't buy the wireless keyboard. it's only available through the package. even if there was a wireless keyboard, i'd rather only have 1 receiver rather than 2 seperate ones.

yeah I just saw that...I'm pretty sure it already comes with the laser mouse. We should tell Ameesh in OT that he needs to fix this asap ;)

I'm still waiting for a feature-laden high end natural wireless keyboard, doh. Unless there is one already...I just haven't looked in a while :p

I think Amazon's system must be automated, with putting out companion product suggestions like that. I've bought 3-volume books before as a set, and the suggested buy would show one of the individual volumes, for example.

I have the 3100 desktop set, and to answer your question, yes, this set does come with the MX1000. (I think it's specified in the details, or you can refer to Logitech's website.) It's an MX1000 with a slightly different color--it's a very, very deep blue... almost black.

As for the keyboard, I love it... I have tendinitis problems in my wrists, and the thin, flat design of the keyboard is very comfortable, particularly compared to my old MS Desktop Elite setup (plus I no longer have to deal with that idiotic F-lock for the function keys that MS has on theirs... that drove me nuts.)

Anyway, it's a great set IMO, I would recommend it--and this is a good price for it (they're selling higher than this on eBay, at $115 + $20 S&H.)
