I came across the MX310, that's right MX310 at Circuit City today and it was priced at $19.99. I was almost going to impulse buy it because I needed a replacement for my first gen MS optical mouse, but I decided to scour the internet first on a review for it. I googled and found one review on a site that doesn't work. Even logitech's own site doesn't list the MX310, just the MX300. Anyone else heard anything on this mouse?

Also, I've heard some horror stories on installing Logitech's Mouseware, crashing systems and it basically being bloatware. Those comments were made a while back though and I was wondering if they've improved any.

hmm...never heard of it...but i saw over at NVNews had a link to a review:
here

the site didnt load on my main computer...but then neither does buy.com; so take a look there

i love my mx500; but mouseware sucks...i'm using MS intellipoint so that i can use the mousewheel in games. but it has most of the features of mouseware, but then not too many ppl do anything special w/ all those extra buttons anyway

That link works for me. In case it doesn't for you, they gave it a 10 out of 10. They say its like the MX300 with improvements.

The Logitech MX310 has a design that slightly resembles the MX500/700 series as opposed to the MX300, which was closer to resembling Logitech's older, non-MX mice. It has a scroll wheel which doubles as a third mouse button, as well as an application switching button right under the scroll wheel. I will talk more about the application switching button on the next page, where I'll cover this mouse's software features.

Also note how it is symmetrical unlike the MX500/700. This means that it caters to both right-handed and left-handed users (I'm right-handed myself). The MX500/700 mice are not as comfortable for left-handed users as they are for those of us who are right-handed, so the MX310 is especially great for those who are left-handed.

Pros:
Feature-packed
Priced well ($29.95)
Has the MX Optical Sensor

Cons
Not yet available for purchase

Just as an update, I bought the mouse anyway :D It actually rang up for 29.99, but I showed the cashier the tag on the shelf and she scanned that tag instead. I may have just gotten a rare mis-price deal! I have to say that this mouse is great, leagues ahead of that old first-gen MS Optical I was using. This thing can now track my flat black desk that my old optical would struggle on. The shape is excellent and it's nice to have a mouse with fresh gliding feet on the bottom. I decided against Mouseware seeing as how the thing works right out of the box and it only has 3 extra buttons. 2 on the sides and that task switcher button. The 2 on the sides do work in ie for going back and forward, so Mouseware is unnecessary.

I give it two thumbs up! Three if you can get it for 19.99 like I did!:D
